@mosheh: Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates appeared on Capitol Hill Wednesday to voluntarily answer lawmakers’ questions about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. Gates’ public image has been damaged by the release of Department of Justice documents showing significant correspondence and meetings between the two men years after Epstein pleaded guilty to soliciting sex from a minor. Speaking briefly to reporters before his testimony, Gates said he was “glad” to be there and hoped his appearance would help lawmakers’ efforts “to find justice for the victims.” Some lawmakers are expected to ask Gates about emails that Epstein allegedly sent to himself, which claimed Gates had contracted a sexually transmitted disease from Russian women and sought advice about secretly giving antibiotics to his then-wife. A spokesperson for Gates has previously called the allegations “absolutely absurd and completely false.” Since the DOJ release, Gates has publicly admitted to two affairs with Russian women referenced in Epstein’s emails. Gates’ ex-wife Melinda told Bill for years to cut off ties with Epstein, but he maintained a close relationship with the convicted sex offender. Gates is the latest high-profile figure to speak with the House Oversight Committee as part of its investigation into the federal government’s handling of the Epstein case. The committee has also spoken to former President Bill Clinton, former Attorney General Pam Bondi, and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. Gates has not been accused of any wrongdoing.
