Byford Dolphin incident is absolutely horrifying, I remember not being able to get it out of my head when I first heard of it especially because of how negligent it was. I do remember reading though that the company was massively at fault because the worker who released the clamp was extremely overworked and was exhausted.

Hate to be that guy, but none of these relate to thalassophobia. Each of these things have their own unique types of fears associated with them. Thalassophobia specifically is the fear of large, dark bodies of water typically with a large depth. It's more akin to the fear of the unknown, and while you could say that some of these things sort of fit into that category, too many people use thalassophobia as a generic blanket term to describe anything spooky about the ocean, and that simply is not what it is.

Great real life horror stories! Just for reference. Boats and Ships are two different vessels. Ships carry boats Boats can't carry Ships. Boats are calm water vessels.
