Best advice I ever heard: tell her you love her outfit, but then explain that she might get different types of attention while wearing it and then ask her how she would respond. Gets her thinking about her safety and her choices without any shame.

same. I also don't make her shave her legs and she has decided she never wants to. A literal teacher came up to her and said "Wow those are some hairy legs" My daughter responded with "I like em that way. let's me know which way the winds blowing" 😂

Same!!! However, hearing my 14 yo tell me she LOVES how she looks in her bathing suit this year made my heart literally melt! My number one rule with her to my family and friends was they are to NEVER comment on her body. You can comment all day on her outfit but dont ever mention her body. It has paid off bc this girl exudes confidence and for the most part, absolutely loves her body! ❤️

I grew up in a super strict household and I was never allowed to wear tank tops or shorts. I have a 12 year old daughter now and it makes me sooooo happy to see her dress how she wants in a way that makes her happy and confident. It heals my heart a little.

To help the moms out there. My rule my mom gave me. If I have a short shirt/ deep cut shirt. I need to have my but covered. If I have my but out. My shirt better be appropriate. You can have ONE but not BOTH. I’m 18 now so she doesn’t care anymore. But that was my rule as a teen. It def helped me!!!
