In short: because we just pass kids and have state standards that vary by state that don’t allow us to actually teach. And the biggest reason?— technology. Parents rely on it in the early years instead of reading with them.

I totally agree I've been in education for 20 years elementary and highschool....they are given good grades and moved on for attempting work but are struggling...we have failed them. It's so appalling to me.
