We have tried to replace it. Java applets, silverlight blazer. Blazer could be amazing if it just had amazing controls out of the box and didn't rely on third party libraries and licenses etc

No love for Netscape LiveWire... 😳 Come on kids... Server-side Javascript began in 12/1996... SSJS gave way to ASP, CF... Which made way for Ajax, which made Javascript so meaningful, someone was like "Let's ruin it with typescript, so no two apps will ever be built or assembled the same way twice. Even by the same developer, on the same machine, in the same dev session.". JS has always been a thing. Let's not give nodejs credit where it doesn't deserve it.

Haven’t written JS in years. TS is the way. I treat JS like machine code, in the sense that the compiler outputs it and I don’t look at it.
