Personally, I tip at a bakery, slice shop, or coffee place if it’s in your neighborhood and you want to be a “Regular”. I tip my baristas at the place on my block $1 for my coffee, and $1 at my usual slice shop, not anywhere else.

The water fountains get turned off when the temp goes below freezing for winter so the pipes don’t burst. They go on once the temps are consistently above freezing.

Depending on when you were in the parks, the bubblers / water fountains may not have been turned on yet for the season. As long as they’re not broken, they should all be on now / after Memorial Day. 💦

The water fountains in Central Park all work. They just get turned off in the winter so they don’t really get turned on until May

Tipping is for dining in or delivery to the person who brings the food to your apartment. The streetlight does make noise if you are standing next to it, it makes a ticking sound for the disabled. Wear headphones with one ear in and one out to be alert. Tap water in NYC is one of the best quality in the US just get a filter because buildings may not have decent pipes. Citibikes have annual plans and discounts. Sirens can not be off because of the constant traffic and jaywalking, otherwise they wouldn't get to emergencies. Just makes sense, street noise dulls the sound.
