I’m glad Melissa got Sookie because to me Alex has a little aggressiveness to her acting and I loved that Melissa’s Sookie was nice, playful and funny. Maybe I’m wrong but that’s my take.

I don’t know if it’s an entire pilot episode or just a scene but I think on YouTube there’s Alex Borstein playing Sookie. She did pretty good! But Melissa is iconic.

Original fans know about the unaired pilot where Alex Borstein WAS Sookie. Pretty sure she’s the reason HE got the job lol… She had to be recast because she contractually had to, to do another show. You can find clips on YouTube. Amy sherman-palladino went on to write Susie for her in Mrs Maisel.
