@tytradingcoach: 1 There's no graduation. You don't wake up one day and become profitable. You only notice you're profitable when you look back at the weeks, the months, the years, and realise you haven't made a mistake in a long time. It takes years to build that and you don't see it building while it's happening. 2 You have to shoot first and ask questions later. The only way through to consistency is doing the thing enough times that the mistakes happen, get understood, and stop happening. No amount of studying replaces that. You have to put yourself in the seat and take the losses on the way to working it out. 3 Boring is what you're aiming for. Trading is supposed to look slow and repetitive. Same routine, same setups, same rules, every day. The day you find it boring is the day your strategy is actually working. 4 You can't out-trade a bad life. If your relationships are stressed, your sleep is broken, your health is sliding, the trading won't save you. Whatever you bring to the chair shows up in your decisions. At 41, life looks different. Responsibilities, family, a chapter later in the story. The trading has to fit into that, not the other way around. 5 Mastering one method is the only way to be a master. Chasing a new strategy every month never built anything for me. The years I made progress were the years I picked one approach and learned it deeply enough that I stopped needing the next shiny idea. 6 Patience is the skill. Not the strategy. Not the indicators. Not the setups. The ability to sit and do nothing when there's nothing there. Most of my best months have been mostly empty. Most of my worst ones were the months I forced trades to feel productive. Learning to be okay with stillness took me longer than learning to read a chart. You can't teach experience. You have to live it. Almost 40 here. January will be 3 years I’m full time on this journey. Still not profitable but very close. Right now I’m hesitating a lot and could be getting payouts already. Taking your shots and asking questions later is very important indeed. Struggling to do that at the moment, though.

The market presents 12 setups every day for you to be profitable you just need to wait for your setup if it did not present you don't trade that day

I have learnt a lot from looking at past trades, sometimes we know our problem but ignore them.
Sometimes it's just a psychological problem:(Revenge trade, Open high risk trade, etc.)
Sometimes it is just proper risk management even if you are very good at analyzing

Discipline and self awareness are huge. I also think every trader has to lose it all, at least once! The best mistakes are the most expensive ones for your muscle memory!!

Stay consistent you guys!! The breakthrough is closer than you think. What feels impossible now will feel routine one day.
Keep grinding, its worth it. Trading = freedom.

I am 47, I have been in the stock market for almost 17 years and have been quite profitable.... I agree with everything you said. It is boring, you have to be patient, you have to focus on one thing but really on it, strategy stagnation, all of this requires a good background, for example a supportive girlfriend, trust, normal rest, a stress-free life. Success is inevitable.
