i'm doing electrical engineering and i'm doing that module 🚮

Bro, have you ever considered going into design of your own vehicle? Taking advantage of the EV hype

Strength of Materials and structure a module in mechanical engineering college level . Terrorised alot of us

amawololo :
That module is very important in Mech Eng, because we design and manufacture using different materials that will experience loads. So doing FEA simulations will help in finding things like stress concentrated areas and material integrity. They were not torturing us but introducing us to the real world application of engineering knowledge.

We did solid mechanics but it was similar to structures of material

I'm still traumatized by that module.. the trauma is still fresh... I had that module last semester 🙌

Strength of materials for Mechanical is different from that of Civil engineering even though it emphasizes is all about Strength and stress.

whats important is chemistry and quantum mechanics.. the father of strength of materials. if you can't understand atoms, molecules and frequency and energy natural properties. strength of materials just becomes implementation and high risk of failures.

I hear but there’s still a lot of civil engineering work and I don’t understand why we are taught this things like Tensions in Cables of Bridges and Structural Frameworks( Roof trusses, Struts and Ties)

I did the same module as a Chemical Engineer, to this day it’s still FYI for me

you very correct coz the engine gearbox and the diffs and the entire suspension they exert a know weight on the chassis. so the chassis must sustain that weight in an optimal manner not to over exceed that weight as it will compromise the speed of thr engine due to overwright.Aldo the geometry of the associated brackets need to be well calculated for the sake of dynamic balance. So the topic stress strength and bending moments play a crucial role in manufactuting a durable dynamically balanced automobile.
