If you want to hear the craziest sleep deprivation journey we had with our 3 year old then keep reading. From about 3 months old my son suffered with severe eczema, he would be up all night scratching to the point i would have to hold his arms down and tap him to sleep the entire night. He would pretty much wake up every 5 mins every 10 mins and the first year 0-1 was the most amount of sleep deprived ive ever been. Only if you have a child with eczema youll know what I mean and how bad it actually is. Once he started walking after turning 1, his sleep became abit better, he would wake up every 2-3 hours which was huge progress but still it was about 4-5 times every night! After he turned 3, I discovered Dr teals sleep soak with melatonin and every night i gave him a bath in it, he would sleep through the night. i was so glad i discovered something that finally helped him sleep through the night but eventually it stopped working on him. Then came a random dentist appointment, the dentist recommended i stop giving him milk at night as it was causing him to have cavities and could be linked to his sleep issues. That same night we went cold turkey on his milk bottle, i would offer it to him in a straw bottle but he refused every night. And guess what? since that night he started sleeping through the night every single night. he would still ask me for milk, id give him the bottle with a straw and he would just keep it next to his pillow and not drink it. He still asks me for milk every night out of habit and then laughs because he knows he doesnt need it anymore. Im so glad hes started sleeping through the night (without any medication needed). Milk can sometimes cause kids to wake up at night for several reasons, depending on their individual sensitivities, digestion, and what kind of milk they’re consuming. Here are the main possibilities I think caused my son to wake up because of milk: 1. Nighttime Urination Milk is a fluid, and if kids drink it too close to bedtime, it can fill the bladder and cause: •	More frequent wake-ups to urinate •	Bedwetting in some cases ⸻ 2. Disrupted Blood Sugar Levels Even plain milk contains natural sugars (lactose), which can cause a spike and crash in blood sugar. A crash can sometimes wake a child in the middle of the night feeling hungry or unsettled. ⸻ 3. Habitual Dependency If a child is used to falling asleep with a bottle or nursing, they may wake up expecting milk to soothe back to sleep. This isn’t due to the milk itself, but rather a sleep association issue. Plot twist: im doing it all over again with my 7 month old baby girl now and shes not a great sleeper but im breastfeeding her which is a different journey to my son. any tips or advice on how to go about my sleep training journery whilst also breastfeeding is appreciated. Should i expect her to sleep through the night or just keep breastfeeding through the night? honestly i dont know what to expect. #toddler #sleep #sleepdeprived #sleepdeprivation #sleeptraining
