There’s a dangerous myth being pushed online claiming that “Muslims want to wipe out Christians in the Middle East.” Let’s set the record straight with facts, not fear. The Middle East has been and still is overwhelmingly Muslim-majority. In most countries, Muslims make up 90% or more of the population. If there were some organised plan to “wipe out” Christians, they would not still exist as historic communities today. But they do. Christian communities have lived in the region for nearly 2,000 years, long before modern political conflicts even existed. Yes, there have been political tensions, wars, displacement, and discrimination in different places but these are political and regional issues, not some religious mission. In fact, in many places, Muslims and Christians live as neighbours, classmates, co-workers, and friends. The region’s history is full of Muslim leaders and Muslim people who protected Christian minorities, preserved their monasteries, and recognised them as “People of the Book.” What’s really happening? Extremists and racists online take isolated incidents and turn them into a “religion vs religion” narrative. They use fear and misinformation to divide people who actually have more in common than these haters want to admit. Let’s shut down the lies. Let’s challenge the stereotypes. And let’s not allow people who profit from hate to rewrite history or reality.
