If you have no idea what one of your VPs have done for your company unless they do a PowerPoint for you, that shows more about you than them. They would probably be better off working for someone else who actually knows what they’ve contributed to the company.

Sadly, many times, the second way is the only way to get upper management's attention. You can explain your accomplishments till you're blue in the face but they are only thinking "This is your job"! even when you go above and beyond for your company.
