Y’all saying speak to cabin crew… cabin crew don’t decide these things, closed hold means flight released, flight released means tower knows you’re ready to leave. You cant just go “uhm can we cancel all this stuff so they can put my bag in the hold?” you would be delaying all other flights landing AND taking off. Just accept defeat and maybe make a claim with the airport/ airline.

For a recent flight they actually offloaded a bunch of bags because the plane was overweight. A bunch of people saw their bags stay behind. The airline said the bags would be on the next flight in an hour or so and get delivered to peoples homes / hotel.

Yeah majority of the time if your luggage doesn’t make it. It’s due to the ground crew received it last min and the flight is closed so they can’t add it to the flight without reopening it and cause a big delay and having to send out another load sheet to the pilots.
