@amyhowells82: What’s the reason all us rescue volunteers/workers do it? Because look at their faces. Look at their faces and tell me they don’t deserve a better life. Their eyes tell a story, they want more, and they are so deserving of more! With around 450 dogs in the shelter, you can’t help but feel like it’s a never ending, losing battle sometimes. But that really is not the case, every single adoption is saving a life. It’s guaranteed to give them a real future, with a loving and caring family that will look after them. The sad realisation is that many of our dogs will spend the rest of their lives in this shelter. That is because the number of adoptions simply will never match the number of new dogs coming in. There are dogs that have waited years and are still no closer to that forever home. We do it for them. We do it to atleast give them a tiny bit of hope, and to help them realise that even though they may not have that forever home yet, they have us, and if they didn’t have us they would have no one. The workers who care for them daily, the volunteers who show up, the people who follow their stories online and care from afar, you’re making all the difference in the world.
