I feel like it’s OK for a kid to miss a day of school here and there mental health days are important as long as he’s not doing anything bad or causing mischief. He’s at a park having fun.

When he gets home, ask him how school was. When he answers, show him the video. Then go out for dinner together and ask him about his real day then set the boundary. Include coming to you to ask for some days off when he really needs or wants them. We called these mental health days.
