I am Brazilian, and we learn that "América" is a singular continent, divided in South and north depending on context, just like you would separate Latino América from the rest of the continent to talk about a more specific area, but that it is all part of a single continent

people are trying to argue w u abt europe and asia but that kinda doesnt mean shit to this discussion bc ghe point is there are regions in the world where the whole region is under "america" 😭 i think this debate is stupid because it ends up w people just wanting to be right bc the way they were taught/learnt should be the one valid option... europe and asia dont even make sense thats 2 different names its still north and south AMERICA why is it that egregious to call it all america if thats how its taught in several countries

oceania isnt a continent 😭 oceania is a geographical region which encompasses australiasia, melanesia, micronesia and polynesia. contenent-wise australia (or sometimes australia-new guinea australinea or meganesia) is a distinct continent that encompasses itself, tasmania and parts of papua new guinea. new zealand isnt part of it - it was discovered like a solid 20+ years ago that nz is on a seperate continental mass "zealandia" which is currently mostly underwater. for some reason literally no other country talks about this.
