@jakeclaverqfop: Ripple cannot burn XRP unilaterally. The XRPL requires 80% consensus among the 35 UNL validators to pass any amendment. Ripple controls three of those validators. That is not enough to force any outcome on the network. Burning escrow would require a network-wide vote and approval from at least 28 other validators. Ripple can transfer, escrow, or distribute XRP but cannot destroy it without broader validator consensus. David Schwartz has stated this directly.
