Have you checked out CJ Hendry? She had a rapid rise in success. I'll definitely take on board what you said about commissions being a good hero offer because I have almost no original artworks available so I'm definitely interested in doing more commissions.

Love this, and makes total sense. Thank you so much for the feedback 😁😁😁 I’ll definitely be putting these points into action.

This is super insightful, as someone who works in advertising this still taught me a lot despite my prior knowledge to some of the content here. Love to see it contextualized in my target industry 💙

This is immensely helpful. though I do have a question. I'm a uni trained artist who ended up working in documentary film making with my husband in Australia. interestingly, we have met and interviewed many successful Aussie artists and they have all offered one piece of advice- one consistent thing.... "DON'T DO COMMISSIONS!" I don't know if its just Australia and something linked to our consumer laws, but commissioned art is a real headache. Buyers can get so impossibly annoying with "fix this" or "change that" before they agree to settle payment".... some even say "that's not what I asked for - start again". These artists literally say that it's not worth the heart ache, the resources or rhe time... any thoughts as I head back into the art world myself. I worry because, aside from that advice from long time professionals, I have had cancer twice and my treatment has debilitated me. i need to make art like I need to breathe. it's a labour of love and a fight against my body signalling it's too painful to create. Time restraints are an issue for commissioning, and making alterations to something that is constructed through illness and pain...

The hero offer concept is making me rethink how I'm positioning my animation and illustration work. I've spent a lot of time talking about what I create and not enough time making it obvious how people can work with me.

Your T-shirt! Interesting with persian symbols like the sun and the lion, or the lady Sun. 👍

I’ve been looking for ways to reduce the number of clicks to get to things on my site, but it seems impossible when I’m trying to sell to three different buyers: pet owners (commissions), art collectors (originals), and the general public (prints). So I made a page of links but I’m wondering if you have a different layout in mind for mine?

I’d love to hear your thoughts on artists who perform. What ideas do you have for us to become a bit more independent in making a business of ourselves?

I didn’t know this about the linktree option! I switched to my own version of linktree so I could have control over the aesthetic, but I’ll switch back. Such a solid tip! Love all of these tips. I’ve been full time for almost 5 years, but have yet to have a 6 figure year. This was inspiring.

Thank you 😊. Re-integrating back into the art world and the last time was back when social media was barely a thing so it’s definitely been a whole new experience. Gradually learning how to rebuild crucially helpful aspects.

so, like, I'm literally Charlie, except knowing the business, and all of that aspect. 😓 Or having the intuitive to keep putting it out there.
