From a couple weeks back. Been having another mental wobble with them this week because ✨I’ve been stressed✨but we are working on it. Stress works in mysterious ways. Recently, when I have been stressed, it massively affects my ability to handstand or chinstand. It’s ok. I’m not 21 anymore. I can no longer run myself into the ground and have great handstand sessions anymore. Skills require a lot more work and good conditions to be mastered now. It’s ok. Doesn’t mean you cant learn them, master them or re-learn them. It’s just gonna require more time and intention. Ride the wave. It’s not gone, it just needs rest. But anyway, One things that helped me get my handstands back a couple weeks ago was first of all, spamming walkovers. Just getting comfortable with kicking over, seeing my foot and finding the ground in a way that felt safe for me. And also always doing the backwards walkover to build that strength (and trust) in that gap between leaving the floor and the airtime of a handstand. After I did countless walkovers, I never said “i’’m going to do a handstand now”. That would freak me out and it wouldn’t happen. Instead I said, I am going to make this descent in my walkover as slow as possible. And really drive with the back leg and point the toe to make that balance. The result was this. I like this shape. Is it a handstand? No. It’s a controlled walkover. But it’s a start. And this is what I will be focusing on for a while to get back some confidence and rebuild those neural pathways so I can remember what it feels like. Anyway that’s just my jounrey. Everyone’s is different. Most important thing: don’t try it when you’re stressed. Don’t put pressure on yourself. Explore. Have fun. Just try things to try them. There isn’t a deadline. When the fun stops, stop. #flexibility #flexible #handstand #fyp
