@beth_and_coop: Seriously though, how do you wake a child when they can’t hear or see you and don’t want to get up and act like a floppy ragdoll??? Edit to add: it’s not a matter of his body physically waking up. It’s the fact that even if he’s awake, he just chooses to completely ignore me since he can’t hear me or see me and I don’t know what strategy to implement in that scenario.

I am extremely hard of hearing. I went on Amazon and got a special alarm clock that does make noise but it comes with a disc that you place under your pillow. That disc vibrates the whole bed. It wakes both my husband and I up.

Rise band, made for deaf people. He wears it like a watch. They also make bedshakers for deaf people but Cooper might like that. I got rise bands for my kiddos and they’re hearing but heavy sleepers so they were sleeping through regular alarms.

How is earth taco in the morning? Would she cuddle up or would she try to play? If she's anything like my cats in the morning she'd wake him up just fine 😂

Look for an alarm with a bed shaker. Check out Harris Communications they have so many ALD choices. You should also think about fire alarms with flashing lights. He’ll always need those and I see so many college students who’s home family never used them as they assumed they would wake their child.

well, my son isn't deaf... but i think maybe this could help anyone. I usually go in his room about 30 minutes before I need him to wake up and just turn his light one and gently pull back the covers. we started this a few years ago, and honestly doing that has been a game changer- it helps him wake up on his own before I go in there and actually wake him up. I know is "gentle parenting" or whatever. But honestly, its helped so much with his mood in the mornings and most days wakes up without me needing to go in there a second time.
