when I first did my run as Leon for the first time ever mr x was like really annoying, but then when I did my run with Claire, I was actually able to avoid him pretty easily. The key is to try to make minimal noise with your movements and when encountering enemies. Because he tracks you through sound. So never run always walk, unless you necessarily need to run. And you should be fine, for any new players out there.
