@elly.psychologist: Self-blame can become such a familiar habit that you barely notice you’re doing it. If you find yourself always asking what you did wrong or feeling responsible for every issue in your relationships, it’s worth pausing to look for real evidence before you take on the blame. Sometimes self-blame is learned from childhood or reinforced by certain people in your life, making it feel automatic. Try to step back and see the situation from an outsider’s perspective, as you would for a friend. Remember, other people’s feelings and actions are their responsibility, not yours. With time and self-awareness, you can start to break the cycle of self-blame and build a healthier relationship with yourself #selfblame #blame #blameyourself #selfblaming #blamingyourself
How does “impact doesn’t equal intent” work with this dynamic?

But isn’t dude who wrote a book who said… always just think it’s your own fault, own it, apologize for it and move on. No?

OMG YES THIS 🙏🙏🙏 My son and my ex do this ALL the time. They seem to be incapable of owning their own feelings then blame me and when I challenge them on it, I get the silent treatment. I validate the feelings I believe they are having and ask them if I’m understanding correctly, they say yes, but want an apology for something I did not do - it’s SO frustrating and exhausting
