Thank you for posting this. There is so much misinformation about all of this. I tell everyone it’s all available, but you have to pay for most of it. I use FDRS and Techline connect so your comment about the customer purchasing what their shop services is absolutely correct I have customers ask” what can you work on?”

I’m in the middle of getting my NASTF vetting. That would suck if they make a different task force

Does Nastf website maintain an up to date list of which scan tools can access what from each manufacturer? I haven't looked on there in a while.

I’ll always fight for right to repair but I saw have a seen a couple lives recently with someone performing high voltage battery repairs with no safety equipment PPE or tools to fix it. 😳

Thats what they say. What they will do is limit it more and more every year and make it more $$$ until you can only take it to the dealer. Theyre sneaking up on it

I’m ok with taking away repairs from DIY people. Let them replace air filters change oil and replace tires. Scan tools and programming tools should only be sold to certified repair shop. Programming is honestly where most of issue is at even with JD. Their software got their EPA compliance. So customer goes and messes around with settings not making it EPA compliant.

Chuck, good day Sir, DIYers should have access to fix upgrade or change anything we want on the items we purchase. I purchased my own Rlink J2354. Why because I should have full access to my cars. The government should have no, or little oversight on this. Its already frustrating to know that in order to meet EPA standards manufacturers add items to engines that lower the real lifetime expectancy of engines. As far as locking out DIYers because some items should be done at the dealer level that is something we are not putting up with. We will hack or remove.
