Haiti’s uniform has a silhouette of the battle of Vertieres which was one of the final battles in Haitis fight for its independence from France. This is the second time this year Haiti has had to change their uniforms at the winter Olympics. They were told that they had to remove Toussaint Louverture from the uniform for being too political one has to ask why does a nation being proud of its freedom and it’s independence from colonization warrant such a response. There is a long history between Poland and Haiti during the fight for freedom Napoleon sent 5000 Polish shoulders to Haiti. Once they arrive they defected and they fought alongside the Haitian revolutionaries in a fight for independence.
