Calling it now - Anthropic won’t drop prices. OpenAI is struggling to compete with Fable so the only option they have is to drop prices. If OpenAI can’t step up to Fable level, then Anthropic has no reason to drop prices.

OpenAI coding tools are really good but because anthropic’s product is superior They can’t charge Anthropic pricing. It’s that simple.. and anthropic pricing is too high as well really everybody’s gonna have to change what they’re doing if they want this to work

Nice overview of the situation but here is another take. The government is going to use our tax dollars to invest in OpenAI. This gives them cap space to lower prices, they also have access to more/cheaper compute than Anthropic who is renting compute from a nightmare landlord named Elon. So this is just the tortoise and the hare.

I don’t totally agree with the last point. The presence of optionally doesn’t mean either company loses. If anything it stabilizes the sector. The need for the models is the value . They won bc the question is “which model?” And not “do i need a model at all?” Yes, the Knicks will win a ring this year.. but the spurs have also gained a ton of new fans and viewership for years to come
