It’s simple, sutalo, Kramaric, Mario pasalic, budimir, Kovacic, Caleta-Car, Pongracic, Vlasic all sit on the bench the whole tournament and ideally never start (budimir and Kovacic maybe depending on opponent). Start Luka Vuskovic, Baturina, Marco pasalic, Musa, Petar Sucic, Gvardiol in CB, Stanisic and Jakic fullbacks, with of course Modric and Perisic to have a balanced squad, plus Livakovic of course. That’s a very strong starting XI that offers the wisdom and experience of modric and Perisic with the strongest cb’s we’ve ever had, defensively disciplined fullbacks, elite control in midfield still, proper wingers on both sides who can score long range or create, more firepower with Baturina playmaking with modric, Petar Sucic covering modric with his stamina, engine and workrate, Gvardiol able to step up like John stones at city or even Vuskovic to support the 2 in midfield and make it 3 while being covered behind still to not get outnumbered, wingers can still track back to help fullbacks effectively and Musa actually has some pace and physicality as a striker and is a top finisher so we can finally score counter attacks, best striker in mls with actual service from Baturina and Marco instead of Kramaric trying to steal his chances, and our midfield get attacking outlets from Marco pasalic and Perisic instead of slow back passing players like Mario pasalic or Kramaric. Straight upgrade from last WC, except our bench could have been a bit better, Budimir/Matanovic, Luka Sucic, Kovacic, are our only reliable subs and hopefully Fruk can step up, he took Majers spot obviously, we needed Segecic, Jagusic and Stojkovic and we’d be safer offensively for subs, mainly Segecic as a sub for Marco pasalic. Luka Vuskovic and Gvardiol is a strong cb pair that any team in Europe would fiend for, sutalo needs to be dropped asap, he’s been at fault for 90% of our goals conceded since euro 2024. Even Ajax doesn’t want him anymore, he just doesn’t fit our squad tactically nor offers as much as the others, and is an extreme defensive liability, he cannot read play fast enough, he’s super slow, every cutback from wingers is a goal vs him, slow, etc. Vuskovic replaces him
