One of the most common excuses I hear from aspiring exporters is: I have the product, but I don't know where to find buyers. The truth? Finding buyers is NOT the problem. Lack of consistent outreach is. Export is a numbers game. The exporter who contacts 300 serious buyers will almost always outperform the exporter who contacts 30 and then gives up. Over the years, we have helped hundreds of businesses export successfully, and one thing remains true: Buyers rarely come looking for you. You must go looking for them. So where do you find buyers? 1️⃣ Search for African, ethnic, and international grocery stores in major cities across the USA, Canada, UK, and Europe. 2️⃣ Join diaspora Facebook groups and communities where people actively discuss African products. 3️⃣ Use LinkedIn to connect with store owners, purchasing managers, distributors, and importers. 4️⃣ Build a buyer database. Keep records of every contact, every conversation, and every follow-up. 5️⃣ Follow up consistently for 30, 60, or even 90 days. Most buyers are not ready the first day. Many are not ready the first month but the exporters who stay consistent are usually the ones who get the contracts.
