Rita, I want you to help me understand something. There’s a girl in my area that I’ve been trying to date. I really like her and I would like her to be my girlfriend. However, every time I ask her out or tell her how I feel, she rejects me. At one point, she told me she had a boyfriend. Another time, she said she wasn’t interested in me. She has always been respectful about it, and she doesn’t act like she hates me or anything like that. What confuses me is that she never asks me for money or tries to take advantage of me. But whenever I stop viewing her status updates or stop texting her, she comes back and starts a conversation with me. She seems to want to keep in touch. The problem is that she has clearly told me she’s not interested in a romantic relationship. So I’m not sure what to make of her behavior. Honestly, I’m tired and confused. Part of me feels like she wants to keep me around, even though she doesn’t want to date me. Whenever I see her pictures, I compliment her and tell her she’s beautiful and a good person, but nothing ever changes. What do you think is going on? What should I understand from this kind of behavior?
