Today’s repair involves replacing the alternator. • The A-Class features a very unusual engine layout. The engine is mounted at a steep angle and sits almost horizontally inside the engine bay. While this design allows for a compact vehicle, it also makes many repair procedures far more challenging than on conventional vehicles. • One of those repairs is alternator replacement. Due to the limited space and tight packaging of surrounding components, access to the alternator is extremely restricted. In some situations, the engine must even be lowered slightly to create enough room for removal. • In this repair, we attempt to complete the job using a more efficient method while minimizing disassembly.
