Something I’m starting to realize after 3 years in a kitchen. I always thought this was just… normal. “That’s how kitchen life is.” But my digestion, my energy, my mood… were telling me the opposite. These are the 5 habits I didn’t even notice were hurting me: 1️⃣ Tasting everything, all day long (without realizing it) 👅 Tasting dishes, sauces, preps… all day, every day. 🔥 My body was always digesting something. ⚠️ Ended up bloated and my gut felt totally off. 💧 Sparkling water between tastings helped reset my palate, and cutting back on alcohol, fried and processed food changed my stomach way more than I thought it would. 2️⃣ Not sleeping enough 😵‍💫 Shifts, adrenaline, late nights… sleeping well just wasn’t happening. 💤 No real sleep routine yet, but I started trying to sleep at least 6 hours and wake up at the same time every day. ⚠️ Not perfect. But already feels different. 3️⃣ Eating fast with no breaks ⏱️ Standing up, rushing, barely chewing. That was every meal. ⚠️ My stomach was super acidic. I just thought it was normal. 🧘‍♂️ Now I try to sit down 10-15 minutes, eat something, even if it’s small. Better than nothing. And I always have dinner now. That’s something I used to skip on long days. 4️⃣ Skipping meals and eating a lot at night 🌙 Some days I’d skip everything and get home starving. 🍽️ Then eat a huge dinner and crash. ⚠️ I know that’s not good, and I’m working on it. Small snacks during the day, real lunch, real breakfast. ☕ Breakfast is the one I struggle with the most. Cold mornings, warm bed… I’m just lazy right now. But I know I need to fix it, so that’s next. 5️⃣ The kitchen stress 🍽️ Tickets, timing, heat, pressure… it’s a lot. ⚡ Honestly? I like the adrenaline. I think I’m pretty chill inside a kitchen. 🌿 Not perfect, I have my moments. But I try not to explode. Stay in control. And that makes a big difference, for me and the people around me. 3 years in and I’m just now connecting the dots. Nobody tells you this when you start. Your body keeps the score. Still a work in progress, but at least now I’m paying attention. #chef #kitchenlife #cheflife #cookingtips #healthyhabits
