I get what he’s saying. It’s not that you don’t think of your friends at all, it’s about being ok with the distance and you know the connection is there and solid bc you’re friends. Whereas if you have romantic feelings you keep thinking about wanting them with you more so you can establish more of that relationship. There’s a clear difference. I don’t have the same inclinations towards my best friend as I would a guy I was interested in.

I actually think this a great analysis. It’s not that we’re not thinking of our friends, it’s that we’re not left considering what it may have meant or if there is safety in the connection. We have security in the experience so we can relax after it’s over. In a romantic connection, you’re considering what may progress after the next encounter. Thank you for this wording, I think you nailed it.

completely disagree. I hate the kind of lackluster, casual friendshipa that most people have where they don't think about their friends when they are not around. my friends are like family to me and I always think of more to say or more I wanna do with them, but I don't wanna kiss my friends, big difference. I'm so ick of friendship being treated as secondary or lesser to romance

You don’t… THINK about your friends when you’re not with them?! I think about my friends ALL THE TIME! 😳 As a woman, my friendships are my LIFE. I think about them, wonder if they figured out that issue, hope for them to do well, send them good luck texts on big days, wonder what they’re up to, plan to go to cute coffee shops, etc. And they do the same for me 🤷🏻♀️
