I’m not with my sons mum but I’ve always made sure she’s got money for my son and anything he needs I buy even tho she gets money off me I will still buy him clothes, get his hair cut, everything a father should do

10 years of commitment with no marriage and two children. I’m on day 6 of no contact. It’s so hard but “after all I’ve done for you” doesn’t erase “after all you’ve done to me”. He was financially inconsistent keeping the core of the family (me) in survival mode. I’m currently staying with family to help navigate this new transition.

As a young first time father I completely agree with this. The mother of my child is 31 and I’m 24, we aren’t together but she knows she can always count on me. I legit don’t have money at all because I give it to her so she can have everything he needs. I don’t love her I care for her well being and I love my son. I will protect them until I die. I grew up with a single mom and my father didn’t care for me until I graduated high school. My son and the mother of my son will never know struggle!!

My exwife and I are back to just being best friends, who had children together. She recently got married this past weekend. But I made a deal with her when we filled out the divorce papers together. No lawyers or mediator btw. Told her, if she truly wants to be home and raise our twins, I'll continue supporting her and the kids. Until they she gets married or they are old enough for school. And I kept that promise. Because at the end of the day she made me a father, blessed me with my beautiful angels. I'm grateful to her ALWAYS for that. So, I busted my ass and made sure she and the kids were taken care of, while taking care of myself also. It's easy to get along with your coparent, if you both put your children's needs first.
