I read somewhere once that becoming a parent is one of the best and one of the worst things that can ever happen to you. But for years now, all I’ve ever wanted to be was someone’s mum… So when the day finally came, 10 days overdue, 3 days in labour and 1 emergency c-section later, I was a bit confused as to why I hadn’t felt that euphoria you see in the movies… I knew that having a baby wouldn’t be easy, you know, I was “ready for the challenge”... I guess it’s easy to say that right? Until you learn the true meaning of breastfeeding and what it really takes, the extent of what sleep deprivation really does to the mind and how much childcare really does f*ck over working parents 🙃 It made me look at the world differently. Made me wonder how people had been doing this so naturally this whole time? It made me feel like I was failing. And that perhaps I wasn’t really meant to be that nurturing mum I used to fantasise about becoming. It was rough… But I’m proud that I spoke about it, and through conversation, I realised that I wasn’t alone in this thought… So, at around 6 weeks postpartum, I started building @thisisbabysteps I thought perhaps maybe, if I could even help just a few new parents feel that little less alone, in what feels like the biggest transition in life, then that would be a success for me. That’s when the dream became a plan, and it took time, and money I don’t really have. It took literal Baby Steps. So yeah, this is Baby Steps. Your new parenting podcast. Carefully crafted. Our 1st season. 5 initial topics… If you’re new parenting just like me, or you know someone who’s about to fall into this insane parallel universe, this space is for you. I’m not here to tell you how to parent. I’m here to figure it out with you, one Baby Step at a time 🤍 Start your week with Baby Steps. Launching 3rd of August, 2026 at 7am BST. #babysteps #thisisbabysteps #parentingpodcast
