If the sister is happy, I wouldn’t say a thing. Especially since they have children. Sometimes it is better, not knowing.

Tell her. Tell her. If he cheated once he is doing it again and endangering the sister and honestly, the children. I would never forgive anyone who, for any reason, kept such a thing from me much less my sister. BTW, my ex and I had a "great marriage" except it wasn't real.

That’s messy. I’m suspicious about how the friendship started.

Yeah. This is a tough one because this is a new friend that you are relying on to being honest. Also, I find it suspicious this new friend has found the sister of the man she had a relationship with. But I agree, if she has a close relationship with her sister and there is no history of jealousy, the best course of action is just explain what happened but in a cautious way. The thing that bothers me is that this happened many years ago and she potentially blowing up a marriage that could be on stable ground now. It isn’t a current affair and that makes this really tough.

How can I send you a question directly?

That always feels like a trick question. My sister would like to know even though she knows that he’s not leaving him. I would like to not know because I’m more intuitive so it would be something that I already might have suspicion about and thinking of the approach, a plan, a conversation etc. I wouldn’t want my composure to get derailed by the news. How well does she know her sister?

Why not confront the BIL and tell him if he doesn’t come clean to her sister, she will tell her sis.

I bet the sister had suspicions and was gaslit by the husband. This would validate her and hopefully she can start a new life.

I think I would talk to the BIL to let him know that you know. Aldo get more details from the friend how it how long it lasted. If the marriage is happy as fas as the sister knows, I would keep quiet dependent on the details she finds out. If they are happy i would hate to make it messy for the kids sake. It's hard because I guess I would want to know 😑

i think the OP should bring the friend to a family gathering. Maybe the cheater would realize the gig is up and confess himself. 🤷♀️

I respectfully disagree. If the sister and her husband have a good relationship now, which OP mentioned, I would not tell the sister. Divorce causes lifetime pain for the children. And her sisters life would be temporarily destroyed, emotionally and financially.
