Here's another thing to remember: some people don't appreciate you even after you're gone. They will villainize you to save their ego. They will attack your name and everything you stand for. It's important to remember to love yourself hard and not be reactive. Continue to grow and heal and bring all your attention and focus to yourself. I gave so much to my ex and his family. Just because I enjoyed doing it. Doing his daughter’s flowers for her wedding. Sending meals to his mother. Inviting them to my home. Never did I receive a thank you. They just expected I would continue. I finally walked away after years of disrespect. I don’t know if they recognized my worth after I left. All I know is that I rediscovered my self respect and self worth. I don’t care if they miss me or not.
