@notsashasha: I went out on a date with an American guy when was 21. He had already spent so much on dinner, so when we moved to a bar, I offered to pay for the drinks. But he just smiled, pushed my card away, and said it was cute that tried 😅 Then he told me never to do it again bc next time he’d actually be offended. I was so surprised! For me, offering to pay felt polite, but later I realised that in his culture, paying was his way of showing care, and insisting on paying could feel like rejecting that. I’m curious… how do you usually handle paying for dates? Do you split, take turns, or does one person usually pay?
