I asked the IT guy to show me how to fix a common issue on my own this morning and he was so excited to show me! He was like “yea! So you do this thingy and then you doo-wop-skiddly-bee-bop and boom you’re back in business!” and then he asked if I wanted a bigger monitor so now I’ve got the best one in my department😎

After I did my own troubleshooting and wrote my ticket, IT just said they were sending me a new laptop and closed my ticket because there wasnt anything else they'd do that I hadn't done.

I have a few users who I have taught how to add a printer or fix a broken app once or twice and they still remember how to do it before having to call me and I am just so dang proud of them

My monitors just randomly stopped working, mid email, stopped being connected to my laptop. I swapped cords, cycled power, unplugged and plugged in everything, restarted my computer, tried a different docking station and everything. Finally called IT and said “man…I stg I tried everything idk what happened” I explained everything I tried. He came down to my desk (all the way across the plant), sat down, made three clicks, and it was fixed. The fucking display settings had randomly defaulted back to one screen instead of extending the screens, and I hadn’t noticed it when I checked the settings. Literally went “oh no…was I stupid??? 🥺” “only a little it’s okay” 😭😭😭😭😭

I make sure I’ve gone through every troubleshooting possibility I can think of before I reach out to IT. Grab snippets of the error screens, reboot, check cables, check for updates so if it’s a more complicated issue they don’t have to worry about it and will have an easier time figuring out what’s wrong. 😭
