Walking away from a career after 25 years is supposed to feel like relief….and part of it does. But there’s another part no one prepares you for… Grief!!! Because you didn’t just leave a job…or the title…or the salary… You lost your identity. The police officer. The nurse. The teacher. The manager who gave everything for 20, 25, 30 years. The person you worked your whole life to become? She’s gone. And suddenly you’re standing in your kitchen at 10am wondering: Who am I now if I’m not her anymore? I really felt this at 52 when my 25 year career came to an end… I’d wanted out. I’d dreamt about freedom when the job was at its worst. And then freedom arrived…and it felt nothing like I expected. Not because I’d made the wrong decision. It was because nobody told me there would be a gap between who I no longer was…and who I was becoming. And nobody told me that gap would feel like grief. This is the part no one talks about and it’s where so many Gen X women feel stuck. Because when you’re trying to move forward while still holding onto who you used to be… You feel hesitant and you start second guessing everything…. It’s not a confidence problem. It’s not an age problem. It’s identity… 🌸 To build a new life you need to let go of your old one.... That’s what I had to do and as soon as I did…things moved forward Here’s what I know now: You don’t leave a career because you’re done contributing… You leave because you’re ready to live life on your terms. You’re not the cop, the nurse, the teacher anymore… You’re the woman who’s finally taking control of her life… If you’re in that same space right now… 🌸👉 Comment “READY” and I’ll send you the Freedom Formula Blueprint and show you how women just like you and me are building income and a new identity on their own terms in midlife. 🌸 Follow @anna_freedomlife for more affiliate & digital marketing inspo
