@tinayazdani: Tensions ran high & frustrations were palpable at a TDSB parent budget meeting Tuesday night, where parents pressed for answers on hundreds of staff cuts and program reductions planned for this fall. But the Ford government-appointed TDSB Supervisor didn’t answer questions during the meeting & declined an interview with me afterward. #ontario #education #tdsb #toronto #torontoschools

5000 less students sounds so sus but even if we buy it, it’s only 2%. “The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) serves more than 246,000 students across 584 schools, making it the largest public school board in Canada.”

The board has closed the central supply warehouse where schools order classroom supplies (known as the DC catalogue). My question is where are we spending the $750? Staples?

The board also cut their resource center in which teachers could “borrow” science kits/other resources. I relied on these kits for hands-on science. Gone. I can’t afford to buy all this stuff. So disappointed. Another thing on-boarded for teachers to provide.

I would like to let everyone know that as of right now, teachers at the TDSB do not have a supply start up fund for September. My students will not have pencils on the first day of school.

Sure, fewer students. My children's school had their music program cut due to underfunding. Many other extracurricular were also cut.

There’s a reason some bridges burned — and in toxic, dysfunctional, and narcissistic environments, there are often a million reasons why they should stay that way. It didn’t always feel that clear, especially at first, even when I wasn’t the one who struck the match that burned it all to the ground. For years, I stood at the edge of those ashes, wondering Should I reach out? Should I try one more time? Should I be the bigger person, again? Because I’d been taught that reconnection is always the goal. That a “good” person keeps rebuilding. That creating distance is somehow my failure. I used to believe all of that, until I realized that the only thing ever waiting for me on the other side of that bridge was The same tension. The same patterns. The same tired scripts. And the same version of me that had to keep myself small to keep them comfortable. It was then, standing in the smoke and ash, that I finally understood that not every collapse is a tragedy, and not every ending is a mistake waiting to be corrected. That I finally understood any fires sparked by truth should be allowed to burn. Healing doesn’t always look like repair. Sometimes it looks like standing still on your own side of the river and finally letting the smoke clear. It looks like noticing how quiet it is over here. How steady. How much lighter you feel when you’re no longer bracing for impact every time someone walks across. You can grieve what that bridge was supposed to be AND be grateful it’s gone. Letting the ashes stay ashes feels like Freedom. 💫🙌 Share with someone who needs this reminder today. ❤️
