i keep saying this and feel crazy even though i know it’s not crazy but i think the highlighted number thing is in relation to weird route, 2 is the biggest bc it is the main weird route chapter and then 3 and 4 both have ties to it too with 3 having the weird side quest and 4 noelle’s house stuff, so 5 is going to be another weird route chapter which makes sense bc noelle will be in it. with that being said i’ve seen people say that weird route will end in a soft lock ie end the game early for those on the route, and since the highlights end with 5 i think 5 will be the final weird route chapter. ignoring weird route i think 5 will also be the shift to the climax of the story which is the roaring. i don’t think the roaring will happen in this chapter simply bc it’s too early and whatever is done to reverse it would have to end the game, so it’ll be 7. but 5 will definetly have something big happen and some sort of secret revealed. i think we’ll hear more about dess and possibly even gaster, as well as the secret of dark worlds slipping in some capacity

I think that's because chapter 5 was meant to be the last one in the deltarune universe, but I think something will happen on chapter 5 that breaks the prophesy

In my opinion, chapter 5 is the last one where "our choices won't matter". Think about it, the profecy we know doesn't go beyond mentioning what chapter 5 will be about, and Gerson says that it was the last written. After that, the old (imo those who wrote the profecy) have stopped writing, and left the pen of hope to the young. Maybe after chapter 5 we'll be the ones to decide what the profecy will be about

If we think of the game as "nothing is written in the future" and how the gang will do anything to break the prophecy, the fact there are more chapters after the "last" one (chpt5) might be a way to break that narrative that everything will eventually end the same! I don’t know if I’m making sense but i think it’s quite cool

chapter 5 is the last chapter before everything goes wrong, despite it looking irrelevant on the scale i think that’s a lie and the ending will be extremely important that will lead up for the next 2 chapters
