Incorrect. Johann Sebastian Bach, for example, was not recognized as an outstanding genius by his contemporaries and was almost completely forgotten for nearly a century; it took a Felix Mendelssohn to bring him back from obscurity.

That statement is not entirely true; the "classic" works that we admire today are so because they have a superior compositional quality to others of the same era, and they have been studied and continue to be studied and listened to because of that artistic quality.

It’s actually not true. People who could have the sufficiently high level of education and able to write and perform music where far from being a lot . Accessing an instrument was also not that easy and this reality was also true during 20th century

He's bang on, Frank Zappa has incredible music, but he will not be remembered in a couple hundred years, but Michael Jackson most likely will, does that mean Zappa isn't good or deserving of such reverence? I don't think so
