in wrestling, you get weighed the morning of, and start a couple hours later. it should be just like that.

MrDevon :
The weigh in has always seemed kinda pointless anyways, because you could not make the cut by a pound yet come fight night both fighters are well over what the cut weight was

Kenny Podschweit :
the better solution is for fighters to fight at appropriate weights....

Noisyninja503 :
creating a buffer to the weight doesn't make sense, you are just adding to the weight. if you weight is 160 and you get a 2 lb buffer the new weight is 162 not 160.

IceCoffey :
Better idea, keep the weigh in the same, and the “buffer” is post weigh in. So you have to be within the weight class 2 days before or whatever, and you weigh after the fight, and have to be within a pound or whatever of that weight post fight. That would get rid of the main concern of 170 lb people fighting in 140 weight classes, but still provide more than enough buffer for people in that real weight class, because you’re weighted after the fight, after you’ve exerted yourself and have been sweating, so that 1 lb buffer is more like a 5 lb buffer of your “true” weight

Yeah, I get what he’s saying but man it’d be a bad idea

I just think fighters should fight in their real weight classes, we can’t have 175ers fighting in 145 with natural 145ers

Wrestled in high school and it was like this every match day or weekend tourney you weighed in 1-2 hours before your first match what you did after to hydrate and eat etc was on you

it could be a point penalty for being a certain amount over, too much and you forfeit

Wrestling and Jiu Jitsu were like this.

This is what they used to do. This is literally what I weigh in is.😂

Dock points on the card if you are too far off weight. At least then if you are too heavy and it’s an advantage you have to go in and make it worth it.

DrPhilGood :
hydration tests before weigh in is how they got us in wrestling. so we but lotion on our feet. cut an extra 3 lbs and drank all the water morning of lol

Or let them fight even if they miss weight. It'll hurt their fame to the fans whether they win or lose since if they win everyone will say it was because of the weight difference and no one will consider it a legitimate win.

Do the weigh in same as Normal, but weigh in again before the fight. And if fighter B is now over then if they draw it’s a win for fighter A. So if they want they can be overweight if they want that advantage but they have to win. The earlier weigh in will make it so they can’t be too far overweight since they’ve only got a few days to pack it on

Have 2 weigh ins. One like they do now, and one right before the fight.

Eb Norrish :
do a regular weigh in, then another weigh in just before the fight. if you're 20lbs heavier than the first weigh in, you need to win by more than 20 points.
