The left-hand side represents the geometry of spacetime: ''G'' is the Einstein tensor, which encodes the curvature of spacetime caused by gravity, while "L" is the cosmological constant term that accounts for the large-scale expansion of the universe. The right-hand side "T" is the energy-momentum tensor, which describes all forms of matter and energy, including mass density, pressure, and energy flux. The factor is a coupling constant that sets the strength of the relationship between matter-energy and spacetime curvature. In simple terms, the equation states that matter and energy tell spacetime how to curve, and spacetime curvature tells matter how to move.
