I don't think that people outside of TX sporting events get the gravity of the tent situation. I am from ATL but am now in TX. The sporting tents kind of blew my mind here. In Atl a parent/adult would "protect"/ stay with the kids belongings and monitor the kids. But here the tents are just respected. They all have the school's logo, you never see anyone under the wrong tent. They visit with each other from other schools but always outside the tents. These kids leave phones, i-pads, wallets, etc... in these tents and literally no one messes with them, and no adults supervise them. The coaches put the team captains in charge (like Austin's coach did) and everyone respects that.

my son is 11, he knows to stay with his team and also to respect the other teams, coaches and thier parents 🤷♀️

At track meets under the tent lays all the team’s athletes bags. They likely don’t want random non team members sitting directly on top of their bags. Part of not wanting strangers there is to keep all their bags and contents secure.
