@bybritta: 2 years post grad I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life. I was burnt out of the industry I got my degree in, had just moved across the country, and was a shell of myself. I turned down a full time job offer in my field & instead started working a random retail job with not a single ounce of direction. Ive always loved social media & creating content in some way but social media became a huge creative outlet for me at this time in my life & a way to take my mind off things. Creating for myself, local boutiques, a few brands here & there, creating when I traveled, and basically any opportunity I was given. Slowly it grew from a side hustle to a part time job. I healed my burnout. Did a lot of work on myself & grew SO much. I restarted my business in the fitness industry (part time). I went to a content creator retreat. I finally admitted to myself that full time content creation was my dream. I quit my retail job. Opened an LLC. Worked day & night branding my social media marketing business to scale full time (still working lol)- pitching, creating, editing, strategizing, researching. It paid off. I hit 10k on here, secured hosted stays (& traveled out of the midwest for 2!), and have done so many paid ugc deals. Started working with brides in wedding content creation, and I have seen the power & community of social media in so many ways that I cannot help but feel EMOSH at how this has become a life that I can feel excited for and feel so much direction for the future. A life that I now feel ALIVE in. My brain is a constant flow of creative ideas and I honestly can't keep up with it. This may seem dramatic for some social media content creation, but when I think back to how I was feeling when first moving to Iowa versus now, the difference is DRASTIC. If you've ever been completely burnt out & without direction if your life you get it.
