I’m Italian in an area with very few Italians. The amount of people who told me I was “off-white” or not “white-white” growing up was insane. It’s a very weird position to be in because obviously, I’m not oppressed the way black and brown people are but certain groups of white people really want me to know I’m not white like /them/.
