yeah no. we're lonely as it is and anything encouraging connections is, imo, a good idea. making friends can be hard, especially as you get older. i think allowing an app to make it a bit easier to form connections for those that have a hard time would be nice. granted, that's if it were better than dating apps which is doubtful.

I couldn’t have met my BF without a dating app. We had zero crossover of our social circles and are about a hour away from each in a fairly large metro area. It wasn’t “lower risk” it was simply opening up options of someone we never would have crossed paths with.
