I’m feeling the same but experiencing all the community and love in New York with the Knicks finals run, along with seeing things like the Algerian soccer team in Kansas and the wonders of this country through the eyes of visitors is giving me a bit of joy and a reminder of who the majority of us are and what we can have again if we don’t lose hope.

I’m loving that the World Cup is showing the world that we are not intrinsically bad. But I’m still just torn on the 4th. I want my son to celebrate he is a kid. But I can’t forget what we are representing to the world now.

Although I don't agree with a lot of what our president does, if you feel this strongly about the state of our nation, please take a break from social media. Go outside, talk to your neighbors, and realize that our country is still the greatest nation on Earth. We—including myself—are all being heavily influenced by a constant barrage of fearmongering and outrage. Once I stepped away for a while, I felt so much better. When I eventually got back on, I noticed that as soon as I started feeling angry or consumed by it again, it was time to step away once more. It's okay to care deeply about what's happening in our country. Just don't let the endless noise convince you that the worst moments on your screen are the whole story. There is still a lot of good in the people around us if we're willing to look for it. ❤️
