I do get your point, and actually agree with some of and I think some of it could be a slippery slope. But let me ask a question, do I just stay average or actually compete and 'ASCEND'. If I identify a reward system that benefits me as a human, shouldn't I engage? I get you're just giving a description of what this attention climate will lead to, but I don't hear any prescription for this. And tbh, I don't think any of this is reversible. Once a society starts "degrading", there is no reversal except total crumble.
