If you donate clothes to charity, they don't hand the clothes out to the needy, they sell them and then use the profit to fund the charity. Nothing wrong with what the red cross did.

Wait till you realize there is no charity organisations, there are some good people trying to help others but organisations are working for money, always because in capitalism nobody pays for good will.

Bro flew across Europe just to discover how fundraising and logistics work. 😭 Red Cross sells surplus donations to fund their actual charity programs. It’s a feature, not a bug.

It’s simple. They sell the donated shoes and clothes to raise money for what ever needed.

Lots of charities are just corporate workplaces in desguise. Lot of budget goes to salary for the administration. Hiw is this a charity?

Wait, I thought everyone knew this? In Finland we even have these charity shop chains where you can purchase donated items and then that profit goes to whatever aid program they support

It’s recycled for profit. What’s the problem? The profit motive gets it recycled. Get it?

The Red Cross is a humanitarian network that prevents and alleviates human suffering. They don't jsuy go around handing out shoes, they need money to operate. The shoes were likely sold so that they could get funds to help with this.

That’s fine by me. I assume someone spending 12 dollars on shoes is someone in need. Why is this a problem?

Better than it going into the landfill. That’s still where the majority of shoes go.

It’s really not that difficult. The Red Cross sells old donated clothing in bulk to charity shops and thrift stores for a discounted price so they can in turn make money. The revenue generated goes to fund the Red Cross’ activities worldwide.
